As a writer of poetry, it's easy to come off as--well, kind of a jackass. But the hope of Fictitious Shores is to produce a blog filled with poetry that is:
1. Unpretentious and unassuming. Whether its subject is heartbreak or a turkey sandwich, poetry shouldn't grab for bigger words or allusions than it needs. Poetry should be populist.
2. Fun to read. Poetry should be fun to listen to, whether you're reading it aloud or in your head.
3. Emotionally honest. Poetry should represent as simply and delightfully as possible the experience(s) of being human.
